Diáspora Disco #2; Sun Rá Edit.
This is a fictional person, it never existed.
June, 2023

It’s kind of crazy, but this party resonates so perfectly that I think it might have been, or at least partially been, responsible for a shift in my “style.” Everything I did for a long time could be called “minimalist”, black and white and blablabla; I still quite like that, Japanese design, and mostly the visual and mental silence I’m always seeking. But for a little over a year now, I’ve noticed that the things I was doing were changing. I don’t need to tell anyone about the “Basquiatesque” influence in all the posters of Diáspora; Basquiat fits the theme behind the party perfectly, but he is indeed one of my favorite painters. He and Mark Rothko, the search is for the middle path, if it exists.

Diaspora Disco #2 Poster – Graphic Design by Rodrigo Baumgratz
Designed for the second edition of Diáspora Disco, this poster announces a music event featuring DJs Pedro Paiva and Aravena, taking place at Maquinaria on June 23rd. With entry at 22h and a ticket price of R$15, the event also offers free admission until midnight for those on the guest list. Rodrigo Baumgratz combines a bold black-and-yellow palette, Afrocentric visual language, and high-contrast photography to evoke a sense of rhythm, identity, and visual urgency. Typographic elements like “DIÁSPORA DISCO #2”, “23 JUNHO”, and “Entrada grátis até 00hs com nome na lista” are integrated with hand-drawn accents and retro-futurist style. Ideal for music branding, cultural graphics, or nightlife campaigns rooted in heritage and energy.
